The Kooikerhondje is a harmoniously built small sporting dog with orange-red patches on white and an almost square body proportion. He moves with his head held high; in action the well-feathered waving tail is carried level with, or above the topline. The ears have black hair at the tip, the so-called “earrings” characteristic of the breed. His naturally soft, silky coat repeals dirt and debris with minimal grooming-a weekly brushing usually suffices. He is shown in the ring with a natural, untrimmed coat.
Ideally standing 14-17.5 inches at the shoulder and weighing between 22 and 28 pounds, this active breed is generally healthy, living 12 to 14 years.
